"Idol Gives Back 07" two night special

FOX, "American Idol" and CPEF created a two night special on 24 and 25 April 2007 to help raise awareness and funds for U.S. organizations focused on delivering health and education resources for children and young people in extreme poverty in the U.S. and Africa.

The top 6 finalists sang songs that can be considered "Life Anthems." In keeping with the "Idol Gives Back" theme, all the songs performed were about compassion and hope. After the performance show, viewers voted for their favorite contestants via toll-free numbers and text-messages, as usual. On this special night, however, viewers also helped change the lives of the truly needy. For every vote cast, "American Idol" sponsors Coca Cola and AT&T;, along with a range of sponsors and partners, donated money to CPEF.

The Ford Motor Company also contributed to the cause in connection with its weekly music video.

The special two-hour results show on Wednesday, was a star-studded evening featuring world-renowned artists and celebrities, who all took to the "American Idol" stage.
